Game launch!


東方葉萌舞 ~ Leafwhisper Ode to Blooming has finally been released!

This project is a very passionate one that I've been developing for the Bullet Hell Artistry 7 event, a danmaku game jam with the theme of developing a Touhou game crossovering with another franchise's mechanics (of which I did with Plants vs. Zombies), over at the Bullet Hell Engines DIscord server. This is definitely one of the quickest games I've done in terms of how much time it took to develop it, and I hope to dissert more about that in the future. I'm very happy with the results, both in terms of how many things I've learned while doing this and also the accomplishment of releasing another game by itself!

To aid me in this adventure, I've used a couple tools to develop this game. I'd like to talk a little bit about the development, since personally, I always love to see the behind-the-scenes content related to the games I like, so why not do a little specification?

The engine used for this game is LuaSTG Sub, more specifically version 0.20.1, with the support of my own fork of the LuaSTG Editor Sharp, LuaSTG Editor Sharp X, built by me and others. I also used IntelliJ IDEA to write additional code for the game. The software used to draw the portraits was Paint Tool SAI 2 and MediBang Paint Pro. For those curious.

Also, act 1 boss A's and act 2 boss B's first spell cards danmaku were made by Zino_Lath.

I also highly encourage you to read the game's afterword, included within the game's files, I write deeply about the path I took to reach this game's conclusion, and it's a nice read.
